Mouth-watering, brand-ready, fast.
I’m Paul Ovenden of Paul Mindy Photography — an award-winning Norfolk food and hospitality photographer creating mouth-watering brand-ready imagery for restaurants, hotels, cafés, food brands and hospitality marketing. Editorial-magazine quality without the editorial-magazine timeline.
I work fast and fuss-free on location or in-house. Styling where needed, consistent sets across full menus, delivering polished files ready for menus, delivery apps, social media and websites. Norfolk-based with UK-wide coverage for ongoing brand work and one-off shoots.
Good food photography sells the taste.
Bad food photography costs hospitality businesses real revenue. Diners scroll past lacklustre menu shots. Delivery app conversions tank with stock-photo dishes. Social posts get ignored with flat overhead recipe-blog imagery.
Premium editorial food photography sells the taste before the first bite. Consistent menu sets convert browsers into bookings. Atmospheric hospitality imagery lifts venue perception. Brand-led food content makes restaurants look like the destination they want to be.
Three things restaurants notice fast.
Editorial-magazine quality
Soft natural lighting, atmospheric depth, premium colour reproduction. The visual language of high-end hospitality magazines — without the slow editorial-photographer timeline or budget.
Works around service
Compact professional kit means I can shoot during service without disrupting the kitchen, OR work fast before/after service with full styling control. Whatever fits your operational reality.
Consistent menu sets
Whole-menu shoots delivered with consistent lighting, styling and colour treatment across every dish. Your menu page looks intentional, not assembled from random uploads.

Food photography FAQs
Practical answers about shoot logistics, styling, service compatibility and licensing. Anything else? Send a message — replies within 24 hours.
Do you provide props and styling?
I bring core food styling essentials (linen, neutral plate options, simple props) and collaborate with your team and chef for plate-up. For larger campaigns or specific creative directions, we can plan a fuller shot list and styling brief at quote stage.
For most restaurant shoots, your own crockery, linens and venue character ARE the styling — using what’s already there keeps the imagery authentically you.
Can you shoot during service?
Yes — compact professional kit and efficient timing minimise disruption. I can work alongside service to capture real plated dishes as they leave the pass, OR stage dishes before/after service for full creative control.
Most restaurants prefer a mix: some dishes shot during service for authentic plating, others styled between services for hero shots.
How long does a menu shoot take?
Depends on menu size and complexity. A typical full menu shoot (8-15 dishes) runs 3-5 hours on-site, including styling time. Smaller menus or single hero shots can wrap in 1-2 hours. Larger seasonal campaign shoots may need a full day.
I’ll send a shot list and estimated timeline at quote stage so kitchen teams can plan around it.
Do you offer video too?
Absolutely — short promo clips, chef features, plating montages and social Reels can be added to a food shoot. Same creative direction, same visual style across stills and motion. Particularly valuable for restaurants wanting consistent content across menu pages, social and ads.
What about commercial licensing?
Standard package includes commercial usage for web, social, print and PR as agreed — website, menu pages, delivery apps (Deliveroo, UberEats, JustEat), social media, brochures, press releases.
Extended usage for paid advertising campaigns, exclusive rights or packaging use is available with clear pricing at quote stage. No surprise licensing fees afterwards.
What if dishes don’t look good in the moment?
Reality check: some dishes photograph beautifully, some need more thought. If a dish isn’t working visually, we’ll problem-solve on the day — lighting tweaks, plate changes, simple garnish adjustments, different angles.
I won’t deliver weak shots into a menu set. If a dish genuinely isn’t photogenic, we’ll discuss whether to skip it or restyle it for next time.
How fast is delivery?
Preview selects within 24-72 hours for time-sensitive needs (menu launches, social campaigns). Full edited set delivered within 5-7 days for standard turnaround. Faster delivery available for urgent launches at quote stage.
How do we book?
Send your restaurant or brand details, location, menu scope and intended use (website, delivery apps, ads, social) via the contact form. Tailored quote within 24 hours.
