Common Questions

Enquiry FAQs

Practical answers to the questions couples ask before sending an enquiry. Anything else? Just send the form below — I won’t bite.

What information do you need in my enquiry?

The two essentials are your wedding date and your venue. With those, I can check availability and send back a tailored quote.

If you’ve got time to share more, the things that genuinely help me give you a useful response are: roughly how many guests, what coverage you’re thinking (just photo, just video, or both), and whether you have any specific moments or worries — e.g. you’ve got family flying in, or you’re nervous about being photographed, or your venue has unusual lighting.

You don’t need to know exactly which package you want yet. We can work that out together.

How quickly will you reply?

Within 24 hours, always. Usually much sooner — most enquiries get a reply the same day if I’m not at a wedding. If I’m shooting on the day you enquire, you’ll hear back the next morning.

Every reply is personal — you’re hearing from me (Paul Ovenden), not an assistant or an automated form response.

Do you offer free consultations or calls?

Yes — happy to chat on the phone, on a video call, or meet in person before booking, completely free. No pressure, no sales pitch.

That said, I usually suggest email first. It lets you ask questions in your own time, see exactly what’s included, and decide whether you want to take it further. Once you’ve had a look at the quote, we can jump on a call if it helps. Or skip the call entirely if you’re ready to book.

Whatever order works for you. Some couples sign the contract first then chat, others want to chat before they decide. Both are fine.

What happens after I send an enquiry?

Four steps:

1. I confirm availability and send a quote. Within 24 hours, with the package that fits what you’ve described and a clear breakdown of what’s included.

2. We chat if it helps. Phone, video call, or in person — whatever you prefer. Optional.

3. I send the contract and deposit invoice. A simple agreement (1–2 pages of plain English, not 30 pages of legal) and an invoice for the £300 retainer.

4. Date locked. Once the contract’s signed and the deposit’s paid, your date is mine. I won’t take another booking for the same day.

The whole thing usually takes a week if you’re ready, or as long as you need if you want to think it over.

Can I see more of your work before I enquire?

Of course — have a proper look around first. The most useful places to start:

If you want to see a specific wedding film I haven’t posted publicly yet (sometimes couples want their highlight kept private for a few weeks), just ask in your enquiry — I can usually share a private link.

What if you’re not available for our date?

Honest answer: peak summer Saturdays book up 12–18 months in advance, so it does happen. If I’m booked for your date, I’ll tell you straight away — no string-along, no false hope.

I won’t recommend specific other photographers (I don’t want to vouch for someone’s work without knowing exactly what you’re after), but I can point you toward where to look. The Hitched and Bridebook directories let you filter by Norfolk and similar style. Look for documentary-style photographers specifically — that’s the closest match to my approach.

And if your date is more than 18 months away, you’re probably fine — send the enquiry anyway.
