Looking for an award-winning wedding photographer in Norfolk UK who captures your day as it unfolds, without forced posing? I’m Paul Ovenden — Paul Mindy Photography — and I’ve been documenting weddings across Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire for 15+ years.
My style is documentary-cinematic: I photograph the day as it happens, with a cinematic finish on the colour and the edit. From rustic barns to elegant halls, the focus stays on real moments and the way the day actually felt — not on performance for the camera.
You can browse my Norfolk wedding photography gallery to see real weddings across local venues, or read about what documentary wedding photography actually means.
Recognised as Specialist Photography Business of the Year 2025/26 — independent recognition for consistent quality and a calm, documentary approach to Norfolk wedding photography.
Independently commended for authentic documentary-cinematic storytelling across Norfolk wedding photography and videography.
Choosing the right wedding photographer in Norfolk isn’t about pretty pictures alone — it’s about trusting someone to capture your day naturally, calmly, and with creativity. Here’s why couples book me:
Every wedding is unique. Take a look at recent Norfolk weddings I’ve photographed and filmed — from rustic barns to elegant halls, each with its own story:

My wedding photography and videography are designed to work together — one style, one vision, and a calmer, more relaxed day for you. Booking photo and video as a combined package gives you a consistent cinematic look across stills and film, with no awkward handover between two separate suppliers.
Most couples book the Silver package for balanced photography and videography across the day. See photo + video packages here.
Honest answers to the questions couples ask me most often before booking. Anything else? Send me a message — I reply personally within 24 hours.
My wedding photography packages start from £700 for half-day coverage and £1,295 for a full ceremony-led wedding day. The most popular package is around £1,695, which covers from prep through to the first dance with documentary-cinematic photography, a private online gallery and optional drone footage where the venue permits.
For couples wanting more — expanded creative time, sneak peeks and full prep-to-late-party coverage — the Gold package is £2,195. Off-peak pricing (typically November to March, and Monday–Thursday weddings) is available from £900.
You can view all packages and what’s included here. Every wedding is slightly different, so I’m always happy to put together a custom quote based on your day — just send your date and venue.
For weddings between May and September, I recommend booking 12–18 months in advance. Saturdays in peak season (June, July, September) usually go first — some couples book me 2 years ahead. Off-peak dates (November–March, weekday weddings) are typically available with shorter notice.
That said, I do get cancellations and last-minute enquiries occasionally, so it’s always worth asking even if your date is close. Send me your date and venue and I’ll come back within 24 hours with availability.
My style is documentary-cinematic. That’s two words but it’s really one idea: I photograph the day as it unfolds, with a cinematic finish on the colour and the edit. The aim is that twenty years from now you don’t just have nice pictures — you have an honest record of what the day actually felt like.
In practice that means most of the day I’m watching, not directing. Group shots and a short couple session still happen, because most couples want them and most parents definitely want them. But they’re a small part of the day — the rest of the time I’m in the background letting things happen naturally.
I’ve written a longer piece on what documentary wedding photography actually means — you can read it here.
Yes. My regular coverage area is Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and Cambridgeshire — including Norwich, Wymondham, Diss, Thetford, Holt, Cromer, King’s Lynn, Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich, Cambridge and Ely.
I also cover UK-wide and destination weddings on request, with competitive travel rates. If your venue is outside East Anglia, just send me the details and I’ll let you know what’s possible.
Most wedding venues follow a similar layout — ceremony space, reception room, an outside area for drinks and group shots. The thing that genuinely changes between venues is the natural light: which direction it comes from, what time of day it’s strongest, where it’ll be when you’re cutting the cake.
For venues I haven’t shot at before, I research the layout online ahead of the day and arrive early to walk the spaces, find the best light and work out where the ceremony exit shot will work. For venues I’ve shot at multiple times — Norfolk barns, Suffolk halls, Cambridgeshire country houses — I already know them and just confirm anything that’s changed.
Either way, you get a photographer who’s prepared, not someone winging it on the day.
Honest answer: in 15+ years of shooting weddings, I’ve shown up to every single one — including days I felt rough. I won’t let couples down on the most important day of their lives, and that’s a promise I take seriously.
That said, if something genuinely catastrophic happened (the kind of illness where I physically couldn’t hold a camera), I have a small network of trusted documentary-style photographers I’d call on as backup. They’d be fully briefed on your day, your timeline and your style preferences. You’d still get exceptional photography — you just wouldn’t have me there.
It’s a question worth asking any photographer you’re considering. If they don’t have a clear answer, that’s a flag.
I’d love to capture your wedding with natural, cinematic photography and film. Send your date and venue and I’ll come back within 24 hours.
