Natural, cinematic & heartfelt.
I’m Paul Ovenden of Paul Mindy Photography — an award-winning Cambridge wedding photographer creating relaxed documentary-cinematic photography and film for couples across Cambridge and Cambridgeshire. From elegant college courts and historic halls to rustic barns and country estates, I cover venues across the county with a calm, friendly approach that keeps the focus on your story.
Based in Thetford and regularly covering Cambridge city and the wider region — Ely, Newmarket, Saffron Walden — with travel to Norfolk, Suffolk, Essex and UK-wide on request.
Historic, refined & full of character.
Cambridge offers some of the most beautiful wedding settings in England — gothic college courts, manicured lawns, historic halls, Georgian terraces and the gentle character of the River Cam. The visual richness is extraordinary, but it comes with specific logistics: college venues often have strict timing rules, restricted photography areas, and tight ceremony-to-reception transitions.
15+ years of city-wedding experience means I know how to work around those constraints and still deliver beautiful coverage — without ever feeling rushed or stiff on your day.
Three things Cambridge weddings need.
Documentary storytelling
Natural coverage from prep to first dance — real reactions, unscripted laughter, quiet candid moments. Zero awkward posing. The day captured as it actually felt.
Photo + film hybrid
Photography and cinematic videography by the same person means consistent style, one calm presence, and significantly better value than booking two separate suppliers for your Cambridge wedding.
Drone & 360°
UK CAA licensed drone for venue establishing shots and 360-degree coverage for immersive ceremony moments — where venue rules, airspace and weather allow.
From college courts to country estates.

Frequently asked questions.
Do you photograph weddings at Cambridge colleges?
Yes. Cambridge college venues are some of the most beautiful wedding settings in England, but colleges have specific rules — restricted photography areas, permits, and tight ceremony-to-reception timing windows. I plan around these constraints at the consultation stage so we know exactly what's possible at your specific college.
Do you cover both photography and videography?
Yes. My one-photographer hybrid approach covers stills and cinematic film together with one consistent style. Most Cambridge couples choose photo + video for balanced coverage and far better value than two separate suppliers.
Do you travel across Cambridgeshire?
Absolutely. Cambridge city, Ely, Newmarket, Saffron Walden and all surrounding villages and country estates. Travel within Cambridgeshire is included in package pricing, with no fuel surcharges.
How soon do we see previews?
A fast preview set within the week so you can relive the day quickly and start sharing. The full gallery and cinematic film follow within 6–8 weeks for standard editing turnaround.
Do you offer drone and 360° for Cambridge weddings?
Yes — UK CAA licensed and fully insured. Cambridge city centre has airspace considerations near Cambridge Airport, but country house and barn venues outside the city often handle drone beautifully. Checked at quote stage.
What about Cambridge college timing restrictions?
College weddings often have tight 30–45 minute portrait windows between ceremony and reception slots, plus restricted areas in some courts. 15+ years of city-wedding experience means I plan portraits efficiently so you still get beautiful coverage without feeling rushed.
How do we book?
