Planning wedding photography at The Lion House
The Lion House is the dedicated events venue beside The Lion Inn on Main Road, Boreham, Chelmsford, Essex, CM3 3JA. The venue’s official wedding information covers both the Inn and the House. This guide brings the site’s Lion and Lion House wedding pages together while keeping the distinction between the spaces clear.
The House has an Art Deco influence, a feature glass wall and a private garden. The adjacent Inn provides a different, more intimate setting. When arranging a viewing, explain the size and shape of your celebration so the wedding team can show you the spaces relevant to your booking.
Choose the setting before fixing the photography plan
The official wedding page describes two ceremony spaces for different party sizes. Confirm which room your ceremony will use, how guests will be seated and whether the same space changes function later in the day. Those decisions affect where a photographer can stand and when there is an opportunity to record the room before it fills.
Window light is one reason to pay attention to the room layout. Ask to see the space around the time of day you expect to marry, if possible. Keep sightlines clear for guests, and agree photography arrangements with the person conducting the ceremony before the wedding.
From the ceremony to the reception
Plan a little time for congratulations before formal group photographs. A short list of family combinations and a helpful guest who knows everyone can make this part of the day run smoothly. Choose a meeting point close to the reception so older relatives and anyone with limited mobility do not need to walk unnecessarily.
The Lion House’s garden may offer an outdoor option, subject to your booking and the conditions on the day. Ask where confetti is permitted and whether there are restrictions on materials or cleanup. Agree an indoor alternative for groups at the same time, rather than leaving that decision until it rains.
Portraits, speeches and evening coverage
Couple portraits can be a short pause between the busier parts of the celebration. Discuss the available areas with the coordinator and keep the route practical. The aim is to make photographs that feel comfortable while leaving plenty of time with family and friends.
For a twilight celebration, check how much daylight will remain when you arrive. It may make sense to take portraits before the reception gets busy. Share speech timings, the first dance and any planned surprises with your photographer so coverage can follow events without interrupting them.
If you are getting ready or staying at the Inn, confirm room access and check-in arrangements separately. Do not assume that a bedroom will be available early enough for preparations simply because accommodation forms part of the wedding plans.
Current venue information and enquiries
See the official Lion Inn and Lion House wedding page for current arrangements and viewings. The Lion House venue page explains the relationship between the House and the Inn. Confirm the rooms, guest limits and outdoor access directly with the wedding team.
This is a planning guide rather than a report of a wedding photographed here. Portfolio images elsewhere on this site illustrate Paul Mindy’s style and should not be assumed to show The Lion House.
