Wedding venues in Newmarket
Bedford Lodge Hotel and the Jockey Club Rooms offer different ways to celebrate in Newmarket: a hotel wedding with garden and indoor ceremony options, or an occasion in the historic rooms of a private club. Both are Suffolk venues, and both deserve a closer comparison than a generic list of country houses.
For another Newmarket setting, our Tattersalls Park Paddocks photography guide explains what to confirm about the rooms, event access and photography timetable at Tattersalls.
A hotel setting or the Jockey Club Rooms?
Bedford Lodge Hotel · Bury Road
Bedford Lodge offers civil ceremonies in its gardens or inside its Georgian house, with hotel bedrooms available for overnight guests. Its official address is 11 Bury Road, Newmarket, Suffolk, CB8 7BX.
Ask which ceremony and reception rooms are included for your date and how an outdoor plan moves indoors. For guests staying overnight, compare the room allocation and preparation access with your ceremony time. Treat spa use or additional experiences as items to check, not assumptions about what every wedding booking includes.

The Jockey Club Rooms · central Newmarket
The Jockey Club Rooms combine historic interiors, an equestrian art collection and overnight accommodation. The operator offers wedding ceremonies and receptions, while Suffolk’s approved-venue directory identifies an outdoor wedding option.
Start by confirming the particular rooms and garden areas offered for your celebration. Dining-room capacities, ceremony capacities and evening arrangements can differ. Ask where photographs can take place without interrupting service or assuming unrestricted use of the club’s collection and rooms.

Keep the Club Rooms and the racecourse separate
The Jockey Club Rooms are not the same wedding venue as Newmarket Racecourse. A reference to the Jockey Club alone is not enough for a supplier’s arrival plan. Put the full venue name, postcode and agreed entrance in your schedule and on guest transport instructions.
For a hotel ceremony followed by a reception elsewhere, give each journey its own time allowance. For an all-in-one celebration, use the time saved for drinks with guests and relaxed portraits rather than adding an unnecessary tour of the town.
Photographs that suit your Newmarket venue
At Bedford Lodge, discuss how the garden and indoor options will be used before settling the family-photo location. At the Jockey Club Rooms, agree a short route through the spaces available to your wedding. I would plan around the light, the ceremony layout and the people you want photographed, rather than promise the same pictures at two different venues.
Share any separate preparation address and the moments you want covered before choosing a package. The Exning venue guide offers a nearby alternative search, while my Suffolk wedding photography explains the wider coverage.
